LOG NO.1 (VAVONNA) - Realisation by Gary Galego
A salvaged blue gum log, turned to accommodate its new Vavonna skin. The rich lusterous reds of Australian hardwoods are often overlooked. Equally luminous, salvaged remnants of the exotic vavonna burl veneer harvested from the root systems of the magnificent sequoia (coastal redwoods) cloak the log. Intentionally split to reveal a raw, torn face from one side.
Blue Gum log soft sanded top & torn side in a matte finish, vavonna Burl half side in a high gloss finish.
ESSENTIAL NOTES
In the interest of not harvesting new veneer, old stored remnants of burl veneer are used in Log No.1
Therefore each is a single edition.
4 x reincarnation are available, please request imagery of available veneer species.

ABOUT FORMED & FOUND
Our inaugural collection of functional sculptures predominately explores the interplay between ‘found’ and ‘formed’.
We traverse materiality; timber, metal, stone, mirror, ceramics, fabric, paper and found objects ~ to amplify, within a condensed collection our diverse practice.
This collection moves away from traditional modes of furniture design and making, and leans into the idea of re-use ~ towards limiting waste and landfill, and towards a mindful archaeology of materials and what they might become. Materials are stories, these functional sculptures bring together disparate elements with unique, idiosyncratic personalities to create their own distinct narrative
